Not an easy task for most, but if you were to choose support DJs for Richie Hawtin in the dance music capitals of Australia, the ones that have in fact already been given the task for the upcoming Hawtin tour would undoubtedly be the top of the list.
In Sydney Simon Caldwell (alongside his legendary Mad Racket DJs) and AU Underground favourite Trinity are on support for the illustrious Opera House performance and in Melbourne another past AU Underground feature artist Mike Callander is getting the well deserved honour alongside Eric Powell.
Asked about the task at hand Trinity divulged that “I am incredibly humbeled to be supporting Richie Hawtin at Vivid. I have followed his career closey for many years and find how he pushes the envelope of electronic music, and the role of technology in his music and performances, very inspiring. A big thank you to Simon Caldwell too for recommending me for this booking.”
And when asked about the preparation Trinity said she has “..felt very creative lately so I have loved pouring my creativity into this performance. I have written 26 new tracks for this live set over the last 2 months. I have also been working with Matthew Hermans on visual content to coincide with my set, he is a brilliant artist and recently had his VR film showcased at the Cannes Film Festival. I am a little nervous yes, but more excited about making my debut at the Opera House and playing alongside Richie Hawtin and the Mad Racket DJs.”
Richie Hawtin is in Sydney for VIVID to perform his brand new CLOSE show as an Australian exclusive on June 3rd at the Sydney Opera House. And fans in Melbourne, while unable to see the live CLOSE performance, will get the chance to see the modern techno don perform a DJ set on June 4th at the Docklands venue Shed 9.
