Mike Callander has been digging into his personal vault of DJ mixes, many of which are previously unpublished, and for the first time making them all publicly available to stream.
Having generously released this treasure trove of music he has uncovered an important part of Melbourne dance music history with stand out DJ sets from when Callander first started DJing in 2001 onwards. Some of the mixes are from Sunny, Triple J‘s Mix Up and the long gone but (still) highly talked about and notorious Honky Tonks, where Callander was a resident.
Also included in the musical disclosure is this absolute gem of a DJ mix recorded for (the now dance music juggernaut) Future Classic‘s ‘Berlin Sessions’ in which Callander reflects that “..In 2009 Future Classic hadn’t yet discovered Flume, and they were throwing parties that explored German techno and other related sounds that suited me perfectly. I still listen to this mix for pleasure, and I think it sits alongside those for Honkytonks and Sunny as one of my best on record. “
Spanning across an impressive 15 years of DJing you can dive in to the two we have highlighted above and go through the entire lot by clicking through to the Hearthis page here.
These days you can find Mike Callander most Friday nights at his residency for Melbourne’s Revolver Upstairs. You can also revisit Mike Callander’s fantastic submission to AU Underground here:
